Expanded Remodeling?

As the title suggests, would it be possible to modify the requirements of the remodel feature to allow any armor type to be copied over? For example: Chain -> Cloth.
My reason for inquiring is entirely selfish, but if modifying that feature was possible and, more importantly, easy to do, I believe that the change would be something that everyone server wide would enjoy.

Now it is possible to use remodel of Master Noble Durable Gear. Other items are unawailale for such use and most likely this will not be changed.
